Travel Stock Photography, United Arab Emirates

While Dubai may get a lot of attention, there is so much more to the United Arab Emirates than luxurious hotels and shopping malls. During my week exploring the UAE in March 2014, I managed to explore both Dubai and Abu Dhabi and see some of the countryside. These big cities, combined with vast plains of sand, mountain landscapes, and a hidden old town make the United Arab Emirates a fascinating country to visit.

If you want to experience a real Middle Eastern country that has much more to offer concerning nature, landscapes, authentic people and food than visit Jordan instead of the UAE. Besides that, Jordan is normally priced while things in the UAE are not.

The UAE is a relatively small country. However, it’s a small country that packs a punch, with plenty on offer to see, eat and do. Once you’ve explored the skyscrapers and the luxury malls, I recommend topping off your visit with one of these unique experiences:

  • Head to the top of the world’s largest structure, the Burj Khalifa, and watch the sunset from 122 floors above sea level! From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire city.
  • Head to the Old Town in Dubai, to get your hands on some of the cheapest and tastiest street food around. This part of town is proof that Dubai doesn’t have to be an expensive experience!
