While Dubai may get a lot of attention, there is so much more to the United Arab Emirates than luxurious hotels and shopping malls. During my week exploring the UAE in March 2014, I managed to explore both Dubai and Abu Dhabi and see some of the countryside. These big cities, combined with vast plains of sand, mountain landscapes, and a hidden old town make the United Arab Emirates a fascinating country to visit.
If you want to experience a real Middle Eastern country that has much more to offer concerning nature, landscapes, authentic people and food than visit Jordan instead of the UAE. Besides that, Jordan is normally priced while things in the UAE are not.
