Travel photography Thailand

On this page you will find travel photography shot in Thailand on slide film in 1999. In 2024 I went back to Thailand, although I only visited Bangkok on my way to Laos

Thailand is a great country! I love the people, the temples, the countryside, the beaches and especially the thai food. One of the highlights being in Thailand is to get a change to eat out twice a day! Take some time to find the best restaurants in town and also don’t forget to eat Pad Thai on the streets of Bangkok. My favorite version is spicy with loads of shrimps please!

Thai food is all about bold flavors! It’s like a party in your mouth with sweet, sour, salty, spicy, and sometimes even bitter all playing together.

Here’s the basic idea:

  • Lots of fresh ingredients: They love using things like lemongrass, ginger, chilies, and fresh herbs for that zingy taste.
  • Spicy, but not always: You can ask for it mild if you don’t like heat.
  • Noodles or rice: These are the base for many dishes, like Pad Thai (stir-fried noodles) or Khao Pad (fried rice). As I do not eat loads of food I try not the eat much noodles or rice.
  • Curries: Creamy or soupy, these come in all colors and spice levels. Green curry is popular, but there’s also red, yellow, and Panang curry. Malaysia is also great for tasing great curries!
  • Soups: Tom Yum soup is a famous one, with a sour and spicy kick.
  • Sweet and savory: Sometimes they mix sweet and savory flavors, like with mango sticky rice for dessert.

It’s all about fresh and flavorful!
