Wat Dammak Pagoda is the largest Pagoda in Siem Reap and was originally built as a royal residence for King Sisowath in 1904. During the time of the Khmer Rouge, the palace was repurposed as a military depot. Now, it is a fully-working monastery, home to a school and a sewing academy for local women. Visiting the Buddism temple of Wat Dammak gives you a chance to immerse yourself in the lives of local monks. It is a peaceful place, and often a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of Siem Reap.
